Colombo

Arrive in Bandaranaike International Airport and enjoy your first taste of Sri Lanka. Your personal chauffeur/guide will be waiting to carry your bags to the car before driving you in air-conditioned comfort to your luxury boutique hotel. He will be happy to answer your questions and orientate you on the short but scenic drive (1 to 1.5 hours depending upon traffic conditions). Relax in your comfortable suite and perhaps download and study the course map of the Royal Colombo Golf Club before dreaming of your hole-in-one!

Colombo

Start the day with an early breakfast at the Royal Colombo Golf Club before teeing off on the 18-hole, par-71 course at Sri Lanka’s finest golf club. As the second oldest Royal Golf Club outside the UK, you may want to browse the fascinating memorabilia and exhibits in the Club Room that record 130 years of golfing history in Sri Lanka. Your driver will be waiting to drive you to and from the golf club (30 minutes’ drive each way, maximum). Spend the afternoon and evening enjoying the excellent amenities at your hotel, perhaps with a swim, massage or sauna before socializing with other guests in the Red Bar.

Kandy

Depart early with a packed breakfast to board the 7a.m. train to Kandy from Fort railway station. This memorable rail journey will be a scenic delight as you are transported in first class luxury through some of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful hill country. Your reserved seats include a complimentary breakfast onboard and unlimited tea and coffee. You can even catch up with your emails with the free Wi-Fi service during the 2.5 hour journey from the coast to the cooler highlands. Your driver will be waiting to pick you up in Kandy and transfer you to your award-winning villa accommodation in the former home of a Kandyan nobleman. In the evening, enjoy a vibrant Cultural Show of traditional music, dancing and fire-walking as part of your stay in Kandy.

Kandy

After breakfast you will be driven to the Victoria Golf Club to play a full 18 holes on the award-winning golf course. The immaculate fairways are lined with majestic Mara Rain Trees and exotic flowering shrubs with the Knuckles Mountains as a scenic backdrop. As well as seeing plenty of local birdlife, you may even score a birdie yourself! You are sure to appreciate the more temperate climate in Kandy as you acclimatize to Sri Lanka’s wrap-around warmth. Later, your chauffeur will transport you back to your hotel for a relaxing evening. Total driving time by car will be 1.5 to 2 hours today.

Nuwara Eliya

Enjoy a final swim or a visit to the gym to work up an appetite for breakfast. Before leaving Kandy your driver will take you to visit some of the main sights including the beautiful Temple of the Tooth Relic and the mature Peradeniya Gardens with their exotic flowers and orchid collection. He will drop you at the Peradeniya railway station in plenty of time for your 12.30a.m. train ride to Nanu Oya. This journey is said to be one of the most scenic railways journeys in the world, so sit back in first class luxury and prepare to enjoy the views. During the 4-hour train ride you will be served a complimentary lunch and unlimited tea and coffee. Free Wi-Fi is also available so you can email photos of your trip so far and make your golfing buddies back home totally envious! Once again your driver will be at the station to collect you and transport you to your hand-picked luxury accommodation in a former tea factory.

Nuwara Eliya

The lush green hills of Nuwara Eliya are not just good for growing tea; they provide the perfect topography for a challenging course at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. After breakfast, it’s time to head north on a short drive to play 18 holes on this historic 6070 yard, par-70 golf course. It is situated at an altitude of 6,000 feet (1,829 metres) which apparently makes the ball travel at least 6% faster! Later in the day your driver/guide will take you on a tour of the delightful town of Nuwara Eliya. Once you have seen the colonial architecture and neatly planted gardens you will understand why it is known as “Little England”. Enjoy a final night’s stay at your comfortable heritage hotel.

Negombo

After breakfast your driver/guide will stow your bags and drive you back to the west coast. We have arranged a visit to a working tea factory along the way where you can see how tea is grown, picked, dried and packed for export. If you want to get up-close to an elephant, we can detour to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to see them bathing in the river. After the 5.5 to 6 hour scenic drive you will be glad to relax in the hotel spa or take a dip in the beautiful swimming pool overlooking the gorgeous sandy beach at Negombo.

Negombo

Enjoy a lie-in as you have a full day to do as you please. Pick a sun lounger beneath your very own palm tree and read a good book or make use of the onsite facilities that this upscale tropical paradise has to offer. Your driver is available if you wish to schedule a complimentary tour of the colonial landmarks of nearby Colombo or perhaps enjoy a shopping trip for clothes and souvenirs. Return to your hotel for another beautiful sunset over the sea.

Negombo

We have scheduled another day for you to chill out and enjoy the sunshine and exceptional beach facilities. Make the most of the beachfront swimming pool or book a therapeutic massage or Ayurvedic treatment in the relaxing spa. You can still take a trip into Colombo if you did not do so yesterday. The choice is yours on this final day in Negombo.

Airport

After a final breakfast and a last lingering look at the beach, your driver will transport you back to the airport which is 15-20 minutes’ drive away. You should check-in approximately three hours before your scheduled departure. Say goodbye to your driver and say farewell to Sri Lanka, at least for the time being, but we hope you will return very soon to see more of Sri Lanka’s sights and attractions.

If you prefer, we can arrange to extend your beach stay in Negombo for a few more days. It will give you the chance to revisit the Royal Colombo Golf Club independently and make use of the driving range or play another round of golf at this historic golf course.
